2022 Fall
- The board game Biobrain combines strategy and habitats to challenge and inspire innovative problem-solving. Players can enjoy the game while taking a deeper dive into biomimicry.
- Mission/Purpose: Let more people understand bionics through games and make full use of their subjective initiative to solve problems.
- Approach: The board is also a part of the packaging. It is convenient for players to store through simple folding, but it also integrates board games into the packaging design, fully reflecting sustainable development.
- Program Used: Illustrator/Photoshop/CAD/Cinema 4D/Keyshot/Sketch/Figma
- Materials: double-layer Bristol, wood
In the beginning, I did a lot of research on biomimicry. In the process, we have learned that there is a lot of knowledge between organisms waiting for us to learn in-depth. Then we started to think about combining board games to make people pay more attention to this field and use their ability to create new inventions and solve problems.
The most challenging thing for me is the mechanics of the game. We started thinking about a lot of different ways that people could get a better understanding of the example of biomimicry. But this is just the spread of knowledge. We want the masses to learn the characteristics of different organisms and use their imagination to solve problems. There is no fixed answer in this game. Just open your mind.
Our game board uses a two-layer structure, which makes it easier for players to place their pawns and provides a richer texture and more robust support for the folded package. In addition, our pawns use wood closer to nature as our primary material.
Each round of the game will revolve around the challenge cards, which set up various difficulties for the players, waiting for them to overcome them. We believe that players can experience a sense of achievement in solving problems, learn the characteristics of different creatures, and have a deeper understanding of biomimicry when they explain their design concepts.
